Born in Austria, he began training as a bodybuilder at the age of 15. In 1968 Schwarzenegger moved to the United States to pursue a career in the sport. He won his first Mr. Universe title as an amateur in 1967 and won it a further three times as a professional in 1968, 1969 and 1970. He also won the Mr. Olympia contest seven times and came second once. Arnold Schwarzenegger began his acting career taking the title role in the movie Hercules in New York (1970). His bodybuilder past and impressive physique often came in handy throughout his time as an actor. International recognition came later, following a few action flicks, like Conan the Barbarian (1982) and The Terminator (1984), two movies that had great critical acclaim and success with audiences worldwide. After several successful movies at the box office, Schwarzenegger's commercial peak hit in 1991 with the sequel of his biggest success, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, that later became the highest grossing film of that year.
