Russia is the biggest country in the world. It is so big that it is actually larger than the (former) planet of Pluto! Russia measures 17 million km2 whereas Pluto comes in at just 16.6 million. Despite its size, Russia doesn’t have the world’s largest population, largely due to the fact that much of Russia is uninhabitable. Siberia makes up a massive 77% of Russia.
Every Russian consumes 18 liters (4.8 US gal) of alcohol total annually, which is double what experts consider dangerous. No surprise that there are over 500,000 alcohol-related deaths in the country every year. Beer actually wasn’t considered an alcoholic beverage in Russia until 2013!
And listen up all you single men and lesbians out there: there are 9 million more women in Russia than men!
